*November 2024 | Omotesando “Edo Purple” Fragrance Exhibition

Led by wisteria in full bloom, the fragrance opens with a refreshing blend of cooling herbs and juicy fruits.

It then unfolds into a richer floral heart, and finally settles into a warm, opulent base of musk and amber.


Among Japan’s traditional colors, Edo Purple is deeper and more luxurious, with a distinctly bold character.

The interplay of wisteria and Rose Otto creates a soft, misty floral impression with a powdery elegance.



Why “Purple”?


In Japan, purple—born from the blending of red and blue—is regarded as a color of beauty and nobility.


In ancient times, it was reserved exclusively for the imperial family and aristocracy, symbolizing high status and refinement.


Even in the classic novel The Tale of Genji, the heroine “Lady Murasaki” is depicted wearing purple kimono, reflecting the deep admiration for this color.


This legacy of purple dye continues to this day—

from the elegant “Ancient Purple” of the Heian period to the refined “Edo Purple” of the Edo era.
